After his wife's death, surgeon Arthur isolates his teenage daughter Lucille in a remote mansion. When she attempts suicide, she is left face‑burned and bandaged. Arthur and his aunt perform an experimental skin graft using tissue resembling his late wife. He hires nurse Joan, whose troubled past leads to a forbidden, intense romance with Lucille.
