Balkan Baroque is a real‑and‑imaginary biography of Yugoslav performance artist Marina Abramović. It converts her performances into cinematic images, creating a fictional reality. Abramović appears as herself in several guises, blurring identity as memories, fantasies and daily rituals mingle. The non‑linear narrative moves between present and past, premiering at the 1999 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
