His research involved young people because the pituitary glands of those under twenty produce crucial materials needed for the serum, which he extracted through his experiments. The doctor’s obsession with eternal life led him to abduct and use children and teenagers, promising them safety but ultimately exploiting and killing many. When Su-na refuses to drink the water, her body remains untouched by the serum, making her immune to the mutations that afflict others. Meanwhile, Nam San, Ji-wan, and Eun-ho fight their way to the laboratory to rescue her. During the chaos, the mutated Gi-su injects himself with the serum derived from Su-na’s untouched pituitary gland, turning into a mutant himself. In a final confrontation, Nam San kills Gi-su as he becomes grotesquely transformed and dangerous. The climax is underscored when the region receives rain, symbolizing the end of the darkness and the destruction of the evil experiments. Ultimately, Su-na is saved and finds a new life with Nam San and Ji-wan, forming a makeshift family.
