Their parents, Tadek and Elżbieta, reside in a hidden room, navigating a strained marriage. Tadek, a frustrated intellectual, makes moonshine and feels overshadowed by his successful brother-in-law, while Elżbieta is a “Solidarity” union leader yearning for freedom and a way out of Poland.
