Set in early‑20th‑century Baku, ambitious merchant Asgar seeks a wife of his own choosing. Azerbaijani custom forbids courting before marriage, so he adopts the disguise of a humble cloth peddler. While passing as a vendor, he meets the spirited Gulchohra, who, unaware of his true identity, falls in love with him.
