The 1977 BBC television adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s novel follows Anna Karenina, an upper‑class woman married to a man twenty years her senior (Eric Porter). Nicola Pagett plays Anna, who begins a passionate affair with Count Vronsky (Stuart Wilson). After becoming pregnant she seeks to dissolve her marriage and wed Vronsky, but true happiness remains elusive.
