In 1932, greedy Veerendra Bhatia and two tantriks attempt to seize the Atmalingam from a cave guarded by a divine trident and a gigantic cobra. They fail in their plan and are killed; Bhatia loses his right hand as the sacred stone is swept away by the river. The Atmalingam sinks into the water and becomes invisible, seemingly vanished from the mortal world.

Over the following decades, Bhatia ages while relentlessly searching for any trace of the Atmalingam. He grows older, never finding it, and the artifact remains elusive as time passes. The quest continues despite his growing disillusionment.
