Jyothilingam, Mahesh, and Kani tease each other on a city street as they dream of a place to call home. With no real shelter of their own, they end up sharing a makeshift spot among sleeping masonry workers. Their lighthearted camaraderie sits atop a fragile line between stability and hunger.

A fire engine loses control after colliding with another vehicle and careens into the unsuspecting crowd. Jyothilingam and Kani are badly injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. The city reels from the sudden catastrophe.

Doctors scramble to stabilize the injured as the scale of the accident sinks in for their families. Jyothilingam and Kani are admitted, and patients and onlookers watch in tense silence. The hospital becomes the focal point for the community's shock.

The narrative shifts to Tirunelveli, where Jyothilingam is a bright student living with his family near the town. We see a relatively joyful life before hardship changes everything. The bond between him and his mother grows in a simple village setting.

Jyothilingam's father, the family's sole earner, dies in an accident while crossing an unmanned railway gate. The loss leaves the family in crisis and forces Jyothilingam to shoulder new responsibilities. The tragedy shifts the family’s future forever.

Jyothilingam joins Senthil Murugan Stores, a busy showroom run by Annachi. The floors teem with 50 to 60 salespeople who work from dawn to late at night, enduring grueling conditions with little rest or dignity. He takes on the burden of supporting his family in this harsh environment.

Kani, a fiery and independent girl, enters the showroom. She forms a quick bond with Jyothilingam as the two navigate the shop’s pressures and dangers. Their shared struggle gives them a glimmer of solidarity amid exploitation.

Karungali, the store supervisor, enforces a brutal, lewd discipline. He beats workers and molests women who push back during working hours. The environment is a prison-like atmosphere, with constant surveillance and fear.

Sneha, the actress, arrives at the showroom for an advertisement shoot. Marimuthu, a die-hard fan who has collected Sneha’s pictures since childhood, glimpses her and shows her his scrapbook. The moment stands out amid the shop’s tension.

Karungali confronts Jyothilingam and Kani after their teamwork is captured on camera. In a fit of rage, Jyothilingam strikes Karungali and is overwhelmed by police and supervisors. Karungali files a police complaint alleging theft, prompting the inspector to summon Annachi into the case, and Jyothilingam is temporarily released.

Back at the showroom, Jyothilingam confronts Annachi, threatening to expose fraud if Kani isn’t released. Annachi orders Karungali to release Kani, and the two vow to keep surviving, moving from shop to shop along a street where opportunities are scarce.

A turning point arrives when a blind elderly man offers them a chance to earn by helping sell his wares. They accept, earning commissions and finding a safer place to sleep.

The hospital scene replays as Jyothilingam regains consciousness and searches for Kani. Kani is found to have lost both legs in the accident, and Marimuthu stays by Jyothilingam’s side with the grim truth weighing on them.

Jyothilingam resolves to marry Kani and stand by her side despite brutal changes life has dealt them. Six months pass in a blur of hardship: Marimuthu works as Sneha’s makeup man, Kani sells items on a street platform, and Jyothilingam continues to sell on the streets, clinging to stubborn hope.
