Android Kunjappan Version 5.25

Bhaskaran questions aspects of the Bali ritual during his friend's ceremony in Payyanur. His stubborn questions infuriate Vinu, who storms off in a rage. The moment establishes Bhaskaran as a boomer-like figure clinging to old ways.

Bhaskaran forbids his son Subramanian from applying for jobs, wanting him by his side in his final days. Subramanian argues for independence and a future elsewhere, including a job in Russia with a Japanese robotics firm. The clash pushes Subramanian toward the idea of leaving for Russia.

Subramanian travels to Russia for work where he meets Hitomi, a Malayali-Japanese woman who loves Kerala. They form a quick bond as she shares memories of her father who died of Alzheimer's. She also introduces him to the robotic home nurse that cared for her father.

While in Russia, Subramanian receives a call from cousin Prasannan urging him to return to care for Bhaskaran. His boss also pressures him to stay in the promising role, complicating his decision about home.

Subramanian returns to Payyanur with the latest Android Robot (Version 5.25) to take care of Bhaskaran. Though Bhaskaran is hesitant at first, the machine slowly wins his trust and affection.

Kunjappan helps Bhaskaran reconnect with his ex-lover Soudamini and gradually settles into daily life. The locals become confused by the robot, which is nicknamed Kunjappan", a name that mirrors the man’s own nickname.

Subramanian grows anxious about his father's wellbeing and contemplates quitting his job to return home with Hitomi. He even convinces Bhaskaran to visit the local pond for a wash without Kunjappan to test things without the robot.

After a meal, Hitomi is seen repairing a disassembled Kunjappan, triggering tension. Subramanian and Bhaskaran clash over the robot’s role, with Bhaskaran insisting that the android can care for him.

That night, CCTV footage surfaces showing a modelled robot strangling its elderly customer to death, sending shockwaves through Bhaskaran, Subramanian, and Hitomi. The fear deepens questions about the robot’s safety and intent.

Bhaskaran, Subramanian, Hitomi, and Prasannan head toward a forest, taking Kunjappan with them to escape the prying eyes of the town. The group seeks a place where the machine’s presence won’t disrupt their lives.

In the forest, Kunjappan reveals a startling truth: Subramanian was right, he is not human but a machine built to assist Bhaskaran. He tells Bhaskaran to let go and leave him in the forest if needed.

Vinu attacks Kunjappan and steals its head. In the robot’s built-in reflex, Kunjappan strangles Subramanian in self-defense, but Bhaskaran intervenes and saves him. The trio escapes, carrying the emotional weight of the encounter.

Back home, Bhaskaran looks at Subramanian from the back of a motorcycle and whispers his name, realizing that love and care can transcend human-machine boundaries. The ending leaves Bhaskaran’s future with his son and Kunjappan open to interpretation.
