Set during World War I, a doctor and a lawyer turn a crumbling mountain chateau into a sanatorium serving patients from all European classes, many with false hopes and identities. The owners hide a wing sheltering dying, maimed soldiers. Though depicted as a quirky comedy, tragedy strikes as mysterious deaths occur, proving even mountain air can't save the owners or their guests.
