Tin Lazaro, a bright Art Studies major and a devoted volunteer tour guide at the National Museum of the Philippines, meets Rafael Toledo, a medical student and avid Eraserheads fan, during a tour that circles around a celebrated piece of Filipino art. Their conversation starts with a debate about the museum’s famous painting, Juan Luna’s Spoliarium, a work Raf admires so deeply that a song of his is named after it. What begins as a friendly clash of perspectives slowly blossoms into a romance, and they soon become a couple. Raf pursues his dream of becoming a doctor, while Tin imagines herself someday directing a museum. She harbors a personal goal to explore the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other cultural spaces in New York, setting the stage for a shared ambition that binds them together.

As time goes on, their relationship faces a harsh test. Tin becomes entangled in a money-related scandal at her workplace, and a coworker named Gregory “Greg” Fausto steps in as a source of support and interest. When Raf struggles to graduate, their plans for a future together start to unravel. Raf even makes a proposal in a bid to hold on to Tin, but Tin declines, choosing not to anchor her future to a man who cannot meet her current needs or the responsibilities she fears she might carry into a life with him.

Five years pass before Tin and Raf cross paths again. Tin has moved on and is now dating Greg, yet she finds Raf—now a practicing doctor and an award recipient—still in her orbit. The two reconnect during a ceremony, and Raf asks for a chance to talk again. In a shared moment at a familiar dating spot, Raf’s persistence prompts Tin to open up about the past.
