Alligator 2: The Mutation

Vincent Brown dumps a tank of Future Chemicals' waste into the town sewers, releasing mutagenic toxins. The chemicals mutate a baby alligator into a colossal creature that begins to threaten the town. This reckless act triggers the cascade of attacks that follow.

Two Mexican fishermen are killed by the mutating beast. Detective David Hodges, famed for working alone, begins to investigate the series of deaths. A severed leg confirms the incident as an alligator attack.

Brown schemes to host a lake party to celebrate his power, ignoring the growing danger. Hodges asks Mayor Anderson to call off the event, but the Mayor and the local police chief refuse. The party looms as the threat continues.

Hodges reluctantly recruits rookie Rich Harmon to help confront the mutant alligator. Their first attempt to kill the creature fails, underscoring how dangerous it is. The town braces for a catastrophe.

Professional alligator hunter Shai Hawkins and his team are hired by Brown but fail to take the creature down. Hawkins loses his brother and two friends in the process. These losses drive Hawkins to join Hodges and Harmon to continue the pursuit.

The trio uncovers evidence that Brown dumped the chemicals into the sewers. Brown retaliates by wrecking Chief Speed's car, killing him, and begins to gather people for the lake party. The conflict escalates toward a climax.

They attempt to blow up the alligator with a homemade bomb, hoping for a quick finish. The alligator damages the detonator and eats the bomb, foiling the plan. The hunters regroup to rethink their strategy.

Chris provides poison necessary to finish the job, and Hodges, Harmon, and Hawkins head into the sewers to chase the creature toward its nest. Chris and Sherri Anderson work to disrupt Brown's lake party to reduce distractions. The hunt intensifies as the gator moves underground.

Mayor Anderson turns on Brown, but Brown murders him on the Ferris wheel, escalating the crisis. The alligator continues to threaten the town, and the search party tightens. Brown's grip on the party cracks under the growing danger.

The creature crashes through Brown's lake party, killing Brown and his henchman as panic ensues. The city realizes the full scale of the threat while the heroes prepare for a final confrontation. The party becomes a backdrop to the hunt.

Hodges, Harmon, and Hawkins head out onto the lake to finish the hunt. The alligator overturns their boat and devours Hawkins, drastically altering the balance of the pursuit. The remaining duo steels themselves for the final strike.

Hodges injects the gator with poison at a critical moment, while Harmon fires rockets to support the attack. A detonated bomb finally finishes the creature, and they return to the surface as heroes. Harmon is acknowledged as Hodges's partner.
