In a remote Taliban camp in the Dasht-e-Madar desert, an intense interrogation unfolds as Col. Huzefa questions a captured man believed to be a RAW operative. The captive offers details of RAW’s activities in Afghanistan in exchange for money and a safe border crossing, but in the process he betrays his ally, Maj. Rajan. What seems like treachery is revealed to be a ruse: the two officers overpower their captors and fight their way free, a daring escape that also yields the rescue of a hostage girl named Farah Faqesh.
The escapee who goes by the alias of this mission’s key asset is eventually revealed, in New Delhi, to be Agent Vinod. He is shown a video message recorded by Rajan from Russia, mentioning the cryptic code “242” just before Rajan is shot dead. Tasked by RAW chief Hasan Nawaz, Vinod embarks on a globe-spanning pursuit to uncover the meaning of 242. His journey first leads him to St. Petersburg, where he confronts the criminal Abu Sayed Nazer and barely escapes after a brutal confrontation. From there he slips into Tangier, Morocco, adopting the identity of Freddie Khambatta and crossing paths with the Russian mafia chief David Kazaan and his Pakistani doctor, Dr. Ruby Mendes.
To win Kazaan’s trust, Vinod pretends to be the fake Freddie and even hacks Kazaan’s phone. This close proximity allows him to dig deeper into Kazaan’s world and, crucially, to uncover that the woman masquerading as a medical professional is in fact Iram Parveen Bilal, a British-Pakistani operative aligned with the ISI. Vinod secures an invitation to a clandestine antiques auction in Marrakesh, a gathering that has drawn a constellation of international businessmen and, ominously, figures tied to terrorist networks. At the bidding table, he discovers that the sought-after weapon—code-named 242—is the detonator for a nuclear device.
A tense exchange with the enigmatic Russian-backed magnate David Kazaan ensues as Kazaan pulls ahead in the auction, and fate takes another turn when the ISI chief, Iftekhar Ahmed, is assassinated in Pakistan by Col. Huzefa’s faction. Waves of suspicion ripple through the story as a cadre of rogue ISI colonels plots a dangerous scheme to unleash a nuclear strike on India. Back in Morocco, Kazaan locks the detonator behind a password and hands it to the mysterious “Colonel,” who has just arrived in the country. Iram learns Vinod’s true identity as a RAW operative, and the two allies join forces again to keep the bomb out of the wrong hands.
The pursuit spirals through perilous incursions: the colonel abducts Ruby to extract Vinod’s whereabouts, and a trusted RAW contact is deceitfully drawn out and killed, prompting Vinod to flee through a hospital escape. The rogue colonel closes in on his prize, moving the detonator toward Riga, Latvia, where he enlists the aid of the mercenary Jimmy Anshuman Ajai Singh to help set off the blast. Vinod and Iram reassemble their plan, racing toward Karachi to intercept a convoy headed for a port and a dangerous sea route into India.
A tense reunion occurs when Farah reappears at a function attended by Col. Pasha, but both Vinod and Iram are soon captured by Col. Huzefa. A separate RAW strike force breaches the old man known as the “Professor,” who links back to the Colonel and to the larger conspiracy. Inside the Professor’s house, artifacts recovered by the operation reveal the true intent: to smuggle the nuclear device from Karachi into India and target New Delhi. The chase heads to Delhi, where Jimmy reaches the capital first, prompting a violent clash in a restaurant where Vinod ultimately retrieves the bomb and brings it aboard an NSG helicopter to detonate it far from the city.
Determination and ingenuity drive Vinod to coax the password from the password-protecting system—“Zilleh,” the name of Kazaan’s camel—before the countdown completes. The detonator’s power is neutralized, but tragedy strikes as Iram succumbs to a gunshot wound sustained earlier. A calculated sting operation then lays bare the conspiracy’s architect: Sir Jagadishwar Metla, the philanthropic magnate whose dealings with the Colonel were a front for a larger political agenda. Vinod wires the room in which Metla is present, exposing the plan to a Lashkar-e-Taiba cell listening in from London, and the cell responds with a suicide attack aimed at Metla’s downfall.
Metla dies, branded as a philanthropist who had his moment in the sun, and Vinod’s victory is bittersweet. The final image shifts to a beach in Cape Town, where a Russian woman with a nuclear device is seen sunbathing, and Vinod’s calm, confident smile hints at the next mission he will undertake in a world without borders.
In this sprawling, globe-trotting espionage thriller, danger, betrayal, and high-stakes deception weave together a web that keeps the audience guessing, with a central hero who operates in the shadows, always one step ahead of every conspiracy he encounters.
