Against All

The Provost of Louňovice, along with sacristan and novice Marta, escape a mob of looting Taborites. They find refuge in the fortress of the yeoman Ctibor of Hvozdno, seeking safety from the chaos. This marks the beginning of their perilous journey amid the unrest.

The refugees escape and hide in Příběnice castle, where Lord Oldřich of Rožmberk's villagers and the Yeoman's daughter Zdena join the growing Taborite movement. Zdena becomes enchanted by one of the Tabor priests, Jan Bydlinský, signaling her rising involvement.

The Provost persuades Lord Rožmberk to support King Sigismund's invasion of Bohemia, promising financial reward. Rožmberk agrees to attack the town of Tábor, aligning with the invading forces to secure his interests.

Sigismund's army marches toward Prague, prompting the Hussites in Tábor to prepare defenses. Disputes erupt between city priests advocating for self-defense and Žižka urging aid to Prague, inflaming tensions among the defenders.

The Provost arrives in Kutná Hora, where Germans imprison Hussites in silver mine shafts. He informs Sigismund of Rožmberk's plans, escalating political tensions and setting the stage for military conflict.

Prague Hussite delegation seeks negotiations with Sigismund but is refused. Sigismund's refusal forces the Prague Hussites to seek aid from South Bohemian camps, intensifying the brewing conflict.

Most Hussites, including Žižka’s forces, prepare to leave Tábor for Prague's defense after the city votes to resist Sigismund. Ctibor and Ondřej of Hvozdno also depart, reflecting the escalating war efforts.

Rožmberk, aided by Duke Albrecht, marches against Tábor with a large army including novice Marta. The fortress faces a harsh siege, and the defenders struggle to hold the line against the stronger forces.

Žižka sends cavalry from Prague to aid Tábor. The Hussites launch a surprise attack, defeating the besiegers and rescuing the city. Meanwhile, the captured provost and sacristan are executed, but Marta and Ondřej are saved.

Following the siege, radicals led by Kániš flee to Příběnice, where they stir fanaticism, burning Zdena and Jan Bydlinský alive. Zdena and Bydlinský fall in love but are tragically killed in the violence.

Prague prepares for a crusader assault from three sides, with the critical supply route around Vítkov Hill. Žižka and his small forces fortify the strategic point in anticipation of the coming attack.

The large crusader army assaults Vítkov Hill where Žižka's forces are fortified. Despite being vastly outnumbered, Žižka’s defense holds firm due to strategic positioning and reinforcements from Prague.

Reinforcements arrive in Prague, turning the tide against the crusaders. The assault on Vítkov Hill is repelled, leading to the collapse of Sigismund’s crusade, and the Hussites celebrate their victory.
