A young, aspiring writer named Hari lives with his mother in a peaceful countryside setting. Seeking excitement, he finds himself drawn to the doctor’s wife and occasionally visits Peter Sir, an elderly retired school teacher. The two lonely men share a peculiar pastime: they collect obituary notices, draw them at random, and bet small sums on who picks the notice of the deceased who was older. Through this unusual game, Peter Sir recognizes two men, Shaji and Kuriakose, whose lives and deaths reveal very different stories—one shrouded in mystery and the other touched by romance.
