A warmhearted story follows Polish immigrant and mathematician Stan Ulam, who emigrated to the U.S. in the 1930s. He experiences difficult losses of family and friends while contributing to groundbreaking scientific advancements. Ulam’s work helps in the creation of the hydrogen bomb and the development of the first computer, marking a time when science lost its innocence.
