Rajini Muralitharan is introduced as a carefree MBA student and bike enthusiast who rides through life with his tight-knit group of friends: Mahesh, Shyam, Srikanth, and Auto Selvam. He juggles studies with adventures and treats his Thunderbird as if it were a first love. He is protective of his two sisters and carries memories of Sukanya and Mallika, his past loves.

Leela arrives to stay with Rajini’s sister’s friend Maythrei, and what begins as a temporary arrangement quickly sparks a romance. The plan for a long road trip to Kanyakumari materializes, and Leela decides to join Rajini instead of his friend Mahesh. The route winds through Salem, Palakkad, and Trivandrum as they set off.

What starts as a playful journey becomes a reveal of their growing affection. Rajini enjoys Leela’s appetite for food and the two share light-hearted moments and small confessions along the way. A night in a village, looked after by a kind local, softens their bond and deepens their connection.

At sunrise in Kanyakumari, Leela’s feelings deepen and the trip feels like a turning point. With the road ahead, Rajini agrees to drop Leela at her home in Kolhapur, hinting at a future beyond the trip.

On the road toward Maharashtra, a severe accident shakes them both; Rajini injures his shoulder and, in a near death moment, proposes to Leela before he collapses. He wakes in a hospital and frantically phones Leela, signaling that something is terribly wrong.

That same day, Leela’s parents are attacked and Leela herself is targeted; the trio realizes the danger is personal and escalating. Rajini vows to protect her at all costs, and the three of them go into hiding as Kamath closes in.

Corrupt cop Kamath, aided by gangster Hiren, orchestrates the murders of Leela’s parents and Mahesh, shattering the group and sending Rajini into a vengeful wake. The case forces Rajini to reevaluate his life as he pursues justice while keeping Leela safe.

A friend poses as the owner of Rajini’s bike with fake papers, fooling Kamath and luring him away from the immediate danger; the ruse buys precious time for Rajini and Leela to disappear. Kamath is redirected back to Maharashtra, allowing the lovers a window to plan their next move.

Two years pass and Kamath returns to Kolhapur to confront a changed Rajini, now the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Rajini reveals his transformation—from a carefree student to a vigilant guardian—fueled by a family wish that his name would remind people of Rajinikanth. The revelation of his hidden name also signals a deeper personal motive.

Rajini leads a patient investigation that identifies Kamath, Nathuram Dubey, and Hiren as the central conspirators behind Leela’s danger. He builds a careful, long-game plan to bring them down, balancing law and order with personal vengeance.

Nathuram is arrested; in a climactic confrontation Kamath tries to kill Rajini and ends up shooting Nathuram instead. Rajini intervenes in self-defense, Kamath falls, and the immediate threat is neutralized.

With the immediate danger resolved, Rajini takes a short vacation to heal his wounds and heart. He reunites with Leela in the village where they first found respite, and they ride again toward a brighter future.

Their final bike ride toward Kanyakumari marks a renewed commitment to each other, turning the road story into a promise for the future. They pace along the familiar route, recalling their journey and the people who helped shape them. The moment culminates in Rajini finally proposing to Leela, sealing their future together.
