A poor farming couple lives under the control of an old landowner who lusts after the tenant’s wife. He repeatedly threatens her and spends each night with her at the water mill. When the husband discovers them, he grabs a sickle and kills his wife. The landowner flees, and the farmer is later arrested by a Japanese policeman.
