In the sleek, glass‑wrapped halls of a Milan department store, routine hums like background music. Pietro Di Leo spends his days patrolling the aisles, a quiet sentinel whose job is to keep order amid a constant flow of shoppers. Beneath his polished uniform, however, a restless unease whispers through his body: sudden nosebleeds, flashes of anger, and vivid, inexplicable visions that disturb his otherwise measured existence. The city outside the storefront pulses with modernity, yet his internal landscape feels oddly out of sync, suggesting a deeper disquiet that the polished façade cannot conceal.

His life outside work is equally compartmentalised. Separated from his wife, he sees his son only on weekends, while evenings are filled with solitary reflections on a store’s makeup consultant—a fleeting crush that offers a hint of colour to his otherwise monochrome days. The juxtaposition of a respectable, middle‑class routine with moments of private yearning creates a bittersweet rhythm, a tone that is both introspective and quietly tense, as if every ordinary gesture might mask an unspoken longing.

Into this measured world drifts Pabe, a young Roma woman whose presence feels like a ripple through the static. She carries the weight of a nomadic heritage and a longing for something beyond the confines of her own marginal existence. When their paths cross, a tentative friendship forms, animated by curiosity and a shared sense of being out of place. Their interactions are marked by shy glances and tentative conversations, hinting at a bond that could bridge the gap between two markedly different lives and suggest a softer, more hopeful future.

The film drapes itself in a subdued, almost poetic realism, letting the city’s muted lights and the characters’ inner tremors speak louder than dialogue. It invites the viewer to linger on the quiet moments—the rustle of a security badge, the soft rustle of a gypsy scarf—as the two protagonists navigate their separate discontents.
