In Chaplin’s fifth Essanay short, Edna’s father pressures her to wed the affluent Count He‑Ha. Determined, Charlie, her true love, pretends to be the Count at dinner, only to be exposed when the real Count arrives, forcing Charlie out. A frantic chase follows, with Edna’s father, the Count, and three policemen pursuing the pair until the pursuers tumble off a pier.
