On Christmas, seven‑year‑old Hector travels with his parents to France to see his grandmother, a trip he finds dull. He finds it tedious. When his father discovers the word “eternity” missing from his crossword and an elderly woman describes it as a timeless realm, Hector writes to the three wise men, wishing to travel to eternity rather than France. His wish is granted and it happens.
