Sixteen-year-old Anita confronts a heartbreaking situation: her mother’s death from leukemia has been followed by her father, Jacopo’s, illness, requiring an urgent bone-marrow transplant. With time running out and no compatible matches within the family, including her grandfather and Anita herself, hope rests on Jacopo's estranged brother, Gaetano. A long-standing grudge and fractured relationship have kept them apart, complicating the already desperate circumstances and raising questions about family and forgiveness.
