The film opens in 2017, centering on four elderly best friends: Lou, Trish, Maura, and Betty. They gather to watch a thrilling football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots, the latter being their favorite team. The friends participate in a lively superstition, which they believe contributes to the Patriots’ victory, involving Betty stepping on a ladder, Trish reading a magazine, Maura sipping tea, and Lou knocking over a bowl of chips. Their rituals work, sending the Pats to the Super Bowl, where they cheer excitedly for their star quarterback, Tom Brady.

Trish is celebrated for her past as an erotica novelist focused on Rob Gronkowski and also for her stint as a mascot in advertisements during her youth. Betty excels in math and is married to the somewhat scatterbrained Mark. Maura has moved to a retirement home following her husband’s death, even though he left their house to her. Meanwhile, Lou has been cancer-free for 16 years. The friends learn about a contest from their favorite Patriots radio show, offering tickets to Super Bowl LI, and they immediately decide to enter. Maura seeks help from her friend Mickey at the retirement home, who seems to have a crush on her, while Lou shares a heartfelt story about how watching football during Brady’s rookie season helped her cope with her chemotherapy.

When Lou announces they’ve won the contest and will be attending the Super Bowl, excitement fills the air. However, Betty keeps her trip a secret from Mark. As they attempt to fetch Maura, they find her fast asleep. Trish distracts Tony, the manager, allowing Lou and Betty to secretly rescue Maura.

Arriving in Houston, TX, the ladies check into their hotel, where they must share two beds. Lou receives a concerning call from her daughter Sara, who reports that doctors have been trying to reach her, but Lou conceals her true whereabouts.

The next day, they explore the NFL Experience, where Lou and Maura impress everyone at a football-throwing contest, while Trish captivates a crowd with an impromptu reading of her erotica. She catches the attention of retired player Dan, who shows interest in her. Betty seizes the opportunity to enter a hot wings contest judged by Guy Fieri, where she triumphs despite the escalating heat. Guy later invites them to a barbecue and a party.

At that night’s party, a woman gifts the ladies some gummies laced with weed unbeknownst to them. As Betty realizes she misplaced the Super Bowl tickets in her “strap-on” fanny pack, the group frantically searches for a way to obtain new ones. Lou encounters Guy, who returns her fanny pack, while Maura engages in a poker game and shows her skills, leaving the group hopeful for new tickets.

Desperate to find the missing tickets, the ladies learn from Trish about the actual contest winners— a group of men named Tom Brady. They cross paths with a scalper, but can’t afford his prices. After another chance encounter with Guy, Betty finally retrieves her lost fanny pack.

As the friends attempt to enter the stadium, they’re confronted by the head security guard Chip, who reveals the tickets are fake and that they’ve been scammed. Overwhelmed, Lou confesses she bought them online, fearing it might be her last chance for something unforgettable. Her friends, unwavering in their support, help her find another way to get in.

They meet Gugu, a poker player who offers to assist them in entering the stadium by disguising them as his dancers. This clever ruse impresses the security guard, allowing them to finally take their seats. While Dan continues to reach out to Trish through texts, she grapples with her feelings about rushing into a new relationship.

As the game begins, the Patriots struggle against the Atlanta Falcons. The creative ladies find themselves in the coaches’ booth, operating controls that enable Lou to contact Brady directly. She gives a motivational speech about how he inspired her through her treatment, which sparks a remarkable comeback for the team. They ultimately win the championship.

After the game, Maura shares news of her winnings from a bet with a rich opponent, deciding to return to her home, encouraging Mickey to visit her. Chip then leads them to meet the Patriots, where Betty enthusiastically praises Danny Amendola while Maura expresses admiration for Julian Edelman’s beard. Trish meets Gronk, who is excited about her book, and Lou encounters Brady, who thanks her for her inspiration and offers to swap jerseys.

Fast forward to 2020, where Sara joins Betty, Trish, and Maura for another Super Bowl. Initially, it appears that Lou has passed away, but she surprisingly appears, vibrant and healthy. The four friends gather once more for an unforgettable game.

Before the credits roll, scenes of the four friends relaxing on a beach with Brady are shown, as Maura inquires about his retirement plans. He comments on how challenging it is to think of retirement “when you’ve still got it,” a sentiment the friends wholeheartedly agree with. Finally, a text states that this film is inspired by a true story, showcasing a photograph of the real-life four best friends.
