In the 1980s Soviet Navy, friends Orlov and Muravyev serve at Sevastopol’s Black Sea base and both fall for Nelly, straining their bond as Orlov turns to secret alcoholism. After the 1991 Soviet collapse they join the Northern Fleet. During a routine drill a drifting WWII mine detonates, crushing their sub 72 metres deep and forcing the crew into a frantic fight for survival.
