Secretary Ernesto Guillermo, Rowell Santiago, the Executive Director of the National Defense Agency, is murdered, and his aide Apollo “Pol” Balbon, Coco Martin, becomes the target of blame as Senator Simon Esguerra, Edu Manzano, and General Damian Calupitan, Tirso Cruz III, push a narrative that points to him. Balbon resolves to uncover his boss’s unfinished mission and reach the director’s daughter, Trina Guillermo, Jennylyn Mercado, to piece together what remains unsaid. To gain her trust, he adopts a bold disguise, presenting himself as Paloma, a persona that makes it hard to tell friend from foe. The two flee to Balate, Batangas, where Balbon’s wider circle—relatives and friends—has a home, and they settle into the life of Yorme, the former Balate mayor, Isko Moreno. The tension in Balate thickens when Trina is nearly assaulted by workers at a stable, and Pol steps in to protect her, underscoring the peril that shadows their quest for truth.

Trina discovers that her father’s Ledger holds keys to the truth, and she calls on Yaya Mi, Mitch Valdez, to retrieve it from her room. When the Ledger is finally found, Trina and Balbon are forced to move quickly, with one of Balbon’s relatives guiding them toward safety while the danger from Senator Esguerra’s men grows louder. A childhood friend, Andrew Esguerra, Sam Milby, becomes entangled in the pursuit, informing his father of Balbon and Trina’s location and being ordered to seize the Ledger and eliminate the couple. The Ledger’s significance drives a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game that leads Balbon and Trina toward a rendezvous with power—enter the home of Yorma and the possibility of delivering the evidence to the President.
