Set during World War I in an unnamed nation, soldier Tamino is sent by the Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter Pamina, thought to be held by the supposedly evil Sarastro. As Tamino pursues the mission, he discovers that loyalties and motives are far more tangled than the simple good‑versus‑evil picture presented.
