Maurice, an 18‑year‑old who dreams of becoming a violinist, is pressured by his former‑champion father to inherit a boxing legacy. To toughen him up, the father arranges a meeting with Nora, an aging femme fatale. Their tryst is interrupted when Nora’s jealous husband attacks, and Maurice unintentionally kills him.
