During quarantine in Yanjiao, a town divided from Beijing by the White River, Yang Fan keeps a simple routine of cooking, cleaning and obeying the rules. Her husband becomes obsessed with a voyeuristic fetish revolving around a classic painting in their bedroom, while Yang Fan starts an affair with an enigmatic restaurant waiter who habitually urinates beneath a tree after closing. Rather than fighting, the three embark on a threesome that soon expands to involve other people.
