Initially appearing as a simple ‘making‑of Dancer in the Dark’, the documentary gradually exposes Lars von Trier’s inner turmoil during production. His doubts about working with the crew, especially actresses, surface, climaxing when Björk walked off set. He admits feeling threatened by women, turning the film into a personal diary. He also reflects on using a hundred cameras and Dogma 95, inviting viewers to see whether his reported pain translates into the final work.
