In a moody Creole-flavored setting, a mysterious Creole woman unearths a briefcase and drives off into the night, setting off a ripple effect that pulls a tight-knit group of teens into a perilous, almost ritual clash with dark forces. At a faded burger joint, high school senior Eden and her friends—Rachel, CeCe, Ricky, Patty, Tammy, Eric, and Sean—spend an ordinary evening laughing and gossiping about life. The arrival of Ray Sawyer, the town’s tough tow-truck driver, unsettles the mood: Rachel voices fear about him, while Tammy playfully leans into the moment, flashing him a flirtatious smile. As dusk settles, Eden and Eric head home after a long day, only to cross paths with Ray again, who checks in on Eden with wary concern before continuing on his way. It’s then that the enigmatic Creole woman—CeCe’s grandmother—appears in the scene, swerving to dodge Ray and nearly tumbling from a bridge. In a tense, fateful moment, Ray dives to save the elderly woman, but she clutches the suitcase for one last plea. The car teeters on the edge, plunges, and sinks below the water as something in the vehicle shifts and swarms: snakes erupt from the wreck, striking at Ray in a brutal, otherworldly attack. When the ambulance arrives, it reports Ray and the grandmother dead, but the shock isn’t over—the tragedy unlocks a strange new chain of events that will tie the survivors to a curse masquerading as vengeance.

The following day, the town wakes to a chilling return: the coroner’s examination of Ray’s body reveals numerous snake bites, yet Ray himself suddenly returns to life, killing the coroner in a crude, brutal fashion and setting off a terrifying hunt through the night. Eden visits her father’s grave, and a sighting of Ray’s tow truck on the road hints that the danger is far from over. A reckless night unfolds by the lake when a heavily intoxicated Sean abandons Rachel, forcing Eric to chase after him as the group’s dynamic strains under fear and fatigue. Meanwhile, Tammy and Patty plot to shoplift but stop by Ray’s business to fix a car; the moment Tammy finishes, she discovers Patty’s lifeless body, suspended by chains, and Ray’s cruel, merciless method—lowering a car and sandblasting Patty to death—shatters any remaining sense of safety.

As Eric tails Sean toward Ray’s garage, the tension spills into a painful memory when Ray uncovers a childhood photo that hints at a softer, long-buried side to him. The garage becomes a crucible: Tammy’s remains are found, and the horrifying realization crystallizes that CeCe’s grandmother’s grudge has teeth. That night, Eden and her friends return to CeCe’s grandmother’s house, where CeCe reveals the dark truth: the snakes that killed Ray are evil remnants her grandmother drew out of men to purify their souls. They attempt an escape, only to discover the house trapped—its car flipped, its doors barred by both fear and magic. The undead killer seems unstoppable, but the house’s protective wards slow him just long enough for a brutal confrontation to unfold. Ray finally enters, only to be repelled by enchantments that won’t stay broken for long.

The battle intensifies as Ray activates the house’s foundation with his tow truck, pulling apart ceilings and walls and dragging Eric and Rachel into the wreckage, pinning CeCe to a collapsing beam that crushes her leg. The struggle escalates as Ray finally climbs the wreckage toward CeCe, who fights back with desperate, defiant stamina, stabbing Sean’s body to slow him down. Yet the possessed killer closes in, and CeCe is slain in the onslaught. Eden, Eric, and Rachel scramble for an exit, but Ray remains a relentless force, following in the truck and dragging Rachel halfway out of a car as Eden stabs at the threat with every resource she can muster. Rachel’s screams fall silent as a fallen tree pierces her, leaving Eden and Eric stranded in swampy waters.

Desperate to survive, Eden and Eric improvise a last stand, slipping into a crypt and trying to stay hidden as Ray hunts them with the same cold, single-minded fury. When she re-emerges, Eden discovers that Ray has forced the living into a grim, predatory trap—dragging them toward a macabre end. Eric makes a selfless choice to shield Eden, sacrificing himself to buy time for her to act. With a newfound resolve, Eden uses a charm given to her by CeCe and faces the wavering lines between life and the supernatural. She fights the snakes’ possession, shifting the balance of power in the swamp-stained battle. In the climactic moment, she seizes Ray’s truck and uses it as a weapon, driving through the suffocating chaos until Ray is finally defeated. The threat seems extinguished, but the swamp holds its breath as two snakes slither out of Ray’s body, seeking new hosts to inhabit.

What remains is a lingering dread and a fragile, if haunted, hope. Eden staggers away from the wreckage, bruised and exhausted, while the nightmare that began with a corrupted suitcase and a chain of deadly choices slowly recedes into the murky water of the swamp. The tale closes on the image of haunted waters and a warning: the curse that took hold may have been defeated in this moment, but the snakes’ fate—still roaming, still seeking—suggests that the terror could return when least expected. In the aftermath, the survivors carry the weight of loss and survival, knowing that the line between the living and the undead has been drawn in blood, salt, and a whisper of magic that lingers in the night.
