Through childhood photos and film footage, filmmaker Marie revisits her upbringing in 1950s and 60s Germany. The film explores the early loss of her mother and the difficult relationship with her conservative father, whose rigid expectations led him to send her to a Catholic girls’ boarding school. Marie's youth was marked by a constant struggle against the conventions of the time and a society that pressured young women to conform.
