Located in Porto, known as 'Invicta,' Batalha is a historically significant venue that has mirrored Portugal's tumultuous 20th century. Established shortly before a pivotal regicide, it evolved with the young Republic, endured four decades of dictatorship, and celebrated the April 25th Revolution and Portugal's entry into the European Economic Community. Facing censorship and technological shifts, it struggled with declining audiences and closed. Now, undergoing extensive renovations, Batalha aims to reopen in 2021 and confront the challenges of the new century.
