After marrying his boss’s daughter, Richard follows his father‑in‑law’s suggestion and hires a live‑in maid, Mylene. He quickly discovers that reliable help is scarce, encountering drunken revelers, bank robbers, a Welsh runaway who flees London at first sight, and an Italian charmer who turns the house into a bawdy salon. The arrival of Ingrid from Sweden further entangles the household’s chaotic dealings.
