Based on a memoir, it follows a fourth‑grader who wins the grand prize in a Gyeongseong Daily writing contest. His parents, street vendors selling brass spoons, cannot afford his tuition while his grandmother is ill. An aunt offers to pay, and his classmates raise money for him. His parents return, promising to cover his tuition next time.
