Pierrot, who has been sheltering migrants in Paris, drives them to the southwest where his friend Antoine is already hosting Mimile while rekindling his romance with Berthe. The six refugees expect peaceful countryside life, but instead encounter the famed hospitality of a French village, prompting Sophie and the three elderly “Old Furnaces” — now unlikely advisers in a mayoral campaign — to confront their fears and prejudices.
