In 1860, photographer Louis persuades a French Army general to send him to Mexico to document the ongoing colonial war. Upon arrival, his plans quickly derail as he struggles to capture any images of the conflict. While unable to fulfill his mission, an encounter with a Mexican peasant named Pinto alters his course, leading him on a journey of self-discovery. He finds himself confronting the unresolved issues from his past, rather than achieving glory or finding riches.
