Braulio Peláez, a modest schoolteacher, falls from his horse, reflecting his family’s poverty. While searching for his glasses he unintentionally causes famous film star Alfonso de Madrazo to crash. Braulio invites him home; his sister and mother persuade Alfonso to bring Braulio’s daughter Luisa to Mexico City to try for stardom. Alfonso agrees and summons them to capital.
