In pre-revolutionary France, two local officials find themselves facing a dangerous criminal gang known as the Buckriders. These outlaws appear to possess supernatural abilities, seemingly riding goats alongside the Devil. As the officials investigate, they uncover a web of deceit, corruption, and betrayal that tests their loyalties and ultimately pits them against one another.
