The Rescue

News breaks at a U.S. military base in South Korea that a submarine has been disabled in international waters near North Korea. A team of four Navy SEALs is assembled to respond. The base scrambles to understand the implications.

The SEALs dive to the wreckage, locate the submarine, and rescue the captain from danger. They plant explosives to disable the sub further and secure their objective. The operation tests their skills under extreme pressure.

Electronics whiz Max plants a listening bug in a conference room to hear rescue mission plans. He and his friends Shawn and Adrian, whose fathers are among the captured, overhear talk of a plan code-named Operation Phoenix. The seed of a risky rescue is planted.

J.J. Merrill, whose father was on the captured team, proposes that they carry out the mission themselves. He records a tape of the base meeting and soon begins secret planning. Shawn and Max secretly copy the operation plans.

Max smuggles the group off the base to the harbor, where they are forced to steal a boat. They accidentally bring Bobby along, Shawn's younger brother, increasing the stakes of their unauthorized mission. The escape becomes a high-tension odyssey.

The group evades patrols and enters North Korean waters. In the village of Sang-Ri near the fortress, they locate Col. Kim Song of South Korean Intelligence, who is impressed with their bravery but says they need American Special Forces help to stand a chance. He plans to escort them back to safety.

That night, the teens sneak out and continue on foot to the fortress. Traveling through a well and sewer system, they find a stash of smoke canisters and grenades and then enter the base. Their stealth is tested as they navigate a hostile, unfamiliar environment.

Shawn and Max set off fireworks found on the base to create a diversion while J.J. frees the SEALS. Kim Song and his men arrive in disguise and aid the group in fighting their way out and back down the well. The plan hinges on precise timing and cooperation.

The team makes it back to the village, secures an airfield, and grabs a Bristol Freighter. Adrian's father pilots the plane, helping the group escape toward South Korea. The operation shifts from rescue to evacuation.

Kim Song stays behind to hold off the North Koreans and buy time. The Bristol Freighter approaches the border, but Bobby sticks his head out of the top hatch, showing his Bruce Springsteen Born in the USA shirt and signaling they are Americans to approaching fighter jets.
