A young teacher is sent to a remote valley where residents seem stern, secretive and opposed to pleasure. When two children vanish playing in the woods, she discovers the valley hides a community of extraterrestrials with paranormal abilities who suppress their heritage out of fear of prejudice from humans. The story adapts Zenna Henderson’s novels.
