In the tiny town of Titipu, the pompous official Ko‑Ko is forced to take on the dreaded post of executioner with the Mikado’s arrival looming a month away. To meet his deadline, he selects the lovesick Nanki‑Poo as a willing victim. Nanki‑Poo, heartbroken over his unrequited passion for the beautiful Yum‑Yum—who is betrothed to Ko‑Ko—offers to sacrifice himself only if he can spend his final days by her side.
