In a Provençal village on the Rhône, farmer Alban is to marry Margot. Clerk Monsieur Broc learns his daughter was with Alban; when he rejects her she collapses. The river suddenly floods the hamlet and Margot vanishes. Adapted from André Corthis’s novel and shot during a Rhône flood, Delluc’s film pairs panic with nature’s fury, misty landscapes.
