A mysterious dagger promises its secret to the worthy. Teenager Misha Polyakov, vacationing in a Ukrainian village with his mother and grandmother, invites his friend Genka to return to Petrograd. Suddenly a white gang led by Nikitsky attacks the house of Commissioner Polevoy, seeking the dagger. Misha helps save the commissioner, learns the weapon’s history and is given the dagger to protect. Back in Petrograd, Misha and his friends work to decode the encrypted text on its handle.
