The cartoon pits the Road Runner against Speedy Gonzales in a desert sprint, while Wile E. Coyote and Sylvester repeatedly try to catch their respective prey. Both predators employ elaborate contraptions, which inevitably backfire. At the finish, the coyote and cat briefly overtake the racers in a supersonic jet, only for the craft to plunge off a cliff, leaving them flat‑on‑their‑backs.
