The War Between Men and Women

Peter Wilson, a sarcastic and near-sighted cartoonist living in Manhattan, is introduced as a self-described swinging bachelor who detests women, children, and dogs. He prefers transient relationships and avoids emotional commitments, focusing mainly on his artistic work.

At his eye surgeon's office, Peter meets Terri Kozlenko, a confident woman with striking features. Despite his attraction to her, Peter learns she is a single mother of three children, which complicates his initial perception.

Peter and Terri develop a close friendship that gradually transforms into romance. Peter appreciates that Terri is the only woman who tolerates his anti-feminist views, leading them to start dating seriously.

Peter proposes to Terri after she rejects his plan of a purely superficial relationship. They get married, and Peter moves into her apartment, integrating into her family life with her children.

Terri's ex-husband Stephen appears more frequently with the children, leading to clashes with Peter. Despite initial tension, Peter and Stephen eventually bond over drinks, much to Terri's disapproval.

Peter begins to develop a positive relationship with David, one of Terri’s children, who lacks a stable male role model due to his father's absence. This deepens Peter’s involvement with her family.

Peter’s eyesight gradually worsens, causing concern and criticism from his boss, Howard Mann. Peter decides to undergo an operation to save his sight, but keeps his diagnosis secret from Terri.

Terri learns about Peter's impending blindness from his ophthalmologist, which leads to a heated argument. Peter feels insulted, believing she is only with him out of pity, and their relationship becomes strained.

Peter’s surgery provides partial vision restoration. He moves out of the family home to his old studio to start working on a new book titled 'The Last Flower', seeking independence after the emotional turmoil.

Stephen, Terri’s ex-husband, is killed while on assignment, deeply traumatizing everyone, especially Linda. Her worsening stammer reflects the emotional impact of the loss.

Peter takes Linda on an imaginative visual tour of his new book, which addresses themes of war, love, and hope. This helps Linda begin to overcome her stammer, symbolizing healing and connection.

Peter recognizes that he was wrong to leave his new family and that they need him. He decides to rejoin their lives more fully, embracing a renewed sense of responsibility and love.

Peter reunites with Terri at a party celebrating the release of his new book. Their relationship rekindles as they reconnect emotionally, despite his initially misanthropic outlook.
