The conference addressed plans for the systematic murder of eleven million Jews across Europe. Participants included educated men from the SS, police, administration, and various ministries, invited by Reinhard Heydrich, head of the Reich Security Main Office. Following the Wehrmacht’s campaigns in Eastern Europe, the systematic persecution began in Poland and the Soviet Union. In 1941, Hitler ordered the deportation of all Jews from Germany to the East, escalating the previously existing persecution and discrimination that had begun in 1933. The conference highlights the roles of individuals like Margot Friedländer and the Chotzen family during this dark period.
