The Unholy Trinity

In Trinity, Montana, Isaac is hanged, insisting on his innocence and claiming he was framed by Sheriff Saul Butler. His execution marks a turning point for his son Henry, who believes in his father's innocence and vows to clear his name. The event sets the stage for Henry's mission of justice and redemption.

Henry arrives in Trinity and confronts Sheriff Gabriel Dove about his father's fate, only to learn that Saul Butler is already dead. Gabriel warns Henry about the town’s view of Isaac as a villain and the dangers of challenging Butler's legacy, hinting at the town's deep-seated prejudices and legends.

The townsfolk believe that Saul Butler was killed by a Blackfoot woman named Running Cub. Gideon demands that Gabriel investigate her whereabouts, which introduces the element of local legends and rumors that influence the town’s perceptions and fears.

A dispute over a local prostitute, Julia, turns violent when Asa shoots her, and Henry retaliates by shooting Asa. Red, Asa's brother, pursues Henry but is killed by the priest St Christopher, revealing the turbulent and violent conflicts in the town.

St Christopher, an ex-slave and Isaac's former partner during the Civil War, explains Isaac's theft of gold and how he was double-crossed. He reveals Isaac hid his treasure at his family home, and hires Jacob to extract a confession, complicating the search for Isaac’s hidden gold.

Jacob, a stage actor turned gunman, holds Henry hostage, and Jacob's men attack Gabriel and Henry during their attempt to recover Isaac’s confession. With help from St Christopher and Running Cub, Gabriel and Henry eliminate Jacob and his men, escalating the hunt for the gold.

Gabriel confirms that Isaac's house and property are linked to the treasure but has been searched unsuccessfully. Meanwhile, Gideon and a posse set out to find Running Cub, believing she knows the gold’s location, which deepens the town's obsession with the treasure hunt.

Gabriel kills Saul Butler to save a child and informs Henry of his act, revealing his commitment to justice. During a shootout, Running Cub is injured, and Gabriel takes her to his house, where she confesses to knowing Henry from childhood and teaching him to ride.

Gideon and townsfolk, seeking revenge for Isaac’s death and the gold, attack Gabriel’s house. Henry and Sarah, Gabriel's wife, choose to stay and fight, leading to a violent confrontation in which Gideon is killed and most attackers are defeated.

Gideon’s loyal supporter Christopher kills the town barman and the preacher, believing the gold is hidden beneath the town church. He then digs for the treasure, leading to a tense showdown with Henry and Gabriel who confront him for the gold’s apparent location.

Christopher fights Gabriel over the gold, refusing to surrender it, and is ultimately shot dead by Gabriel. Henry faces the truth about Isaac’s treasure, and Christopher's obsession ends in violence, marking the climax of the gold hunt.

Henry disperses his father’s ashes, symbolizing closure. He recognizes his inheritance but chooses to leave Trinity, symbolically passing on his legacy and acknowledging Gabriel’s life and family in the town.

Gabriel offers Henry a sheriff's badge, and Henry decides to stay in Trinity, embracing his new role in the town’s future. This act signifies his acceptance of his past and his commitment to protecting the town.
