An Englishman, angry after his insurance claim is denied, stages his own death and flees to Spain. While trying to start a new life, he discovers that the insurance company has hired a relentless investigator who tracks him across the country, forcing him to stay one step ahead as his past catches up with him and his relationship with his woman becomes increasingly fraught.
