In post‑war Italy, a group settles in a ruined village, intent on rebuilding it like the women of Messina did after an earthquake. Tensions of respect versus suspicion rise, and a government envoy declares the land belongs to no one, threatening fragile cooperation. The film adapts fragments of Elio Vittorini’s novella ‘The Women of Messina’.
