As César Faz (Clifton Collins Jr.) embarks on a journey from the familiar surroundings of St. Louis to the lively city of Monterrey, Mexico, he leaves behind his past as a clubhouse attendant for the St. Louis Cardinals. Facing an uncertain future, César grapples with the question of his next steps. It is during this transitional phase that he crosses paths with Padre Esteban (Cheech Marin), a dynamic figure who has united a group of eager local children to foster their shared love for baseball. Among this passionate crew is Ángel Macías (Jake T. Austin), a gifted young pitcher boasting an exceptional fastball and an insatiable desire to improve.

As César, drawing from his past glory, takes Ángel under his mentorship, he shares captivating stories about his coaching experiences with the Cardinals, igniting a spark of ambition within Ángel. With encouragement from Padre Esteban, César eventually agrees to assist in the formation of Monterrey’s inaugural Little League team.
